Katy Low Ceramics

Welcome to Katy Low Ceramics

Where wild forms are shaped by gentle hands

I am a scottish ceramic artist and sculptor based in Glasgow,

My practice is  deeply influenced by the natural world -and its diverse animal forms, ancient geology, spirituality of place, and the quiet presence of the land with its creatures. These elements shape my creative process and reflect a  deep connection to the land.

Specialising in hand- building techniques with different clays, I explore texture, shape, and colour to develop sculptural forms and vessels that invite meaningful connection. Each piece is an invitation to pause, interpret and connect - evoking a felt response.

Working with clay allows me to delve into these elemental relationships , crafting forms that speak to presence,  memory, and the stories held within the land.

There is also a lightness in the making - a sense of flow and playful emergence that arises when I am fully present to the creative process.  In these moments,  I feel most alive, attuned to the rhythm of being, and open to what wants to emerge. Enjoy exploring my work.

"As we journey from the womb of the sea with our gaze of longing fixed on the stars,
we have stopped off on this Earth for a short spell of belonging.
The unity of the four elements is what constitues and sustains our existence in this world."
John O'Donohue
